Welcome to January 1, 2012. The first of each month is confessional time. Time to fess up to a gardening blunder, or gardening oops. GOOPs for short. I share one of my gardening mis-steps and hope you'll do the same.
Gardeners are all a twitter as spring approaches … just five days until the calendar tells us winter is over. A slow, careful stroll around my Connecticut gardens – and some very close inspection – says the calendar is not too far off. We may still have some snow in our near future but, more and more, spring is taking hold.
It's GOOPs day - the day I share one of my Gardening OOPs (GOOPs for short). This months GOOPs is not an April Fool's tale … but I do admit to feeling rather foolish whenever I commit this garden rearranging faux pas.
Being somewhat superstitious - for instance never, I mean never say the Red Sox have a game tied up until they make the very last out – I've hesitated to mention the weather that has blessed Connecticut gardeners and other Nutmeggers this week. I think any possible jinx from me is passed though, the latest weather forecast is calling for cooler temperatures, rain, and wind early next week. So … how to describe the last few days? Wonderfully warm during the day yet chilly at night, soothing sunshine, refreshing spring air, in a word «Delightful.»
