Gardeners in and around Connecticut have an early-February opportunity to stir their gardening juices. The Connecticut Horticultural Society is hosting Spring  into the Garden, a day-long symposium filled with garden talk, garden photos and gardening ideas.

Date and Time: February 4, 2012, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Place: Portland High School, Portland, CT

Admission gets you in to two sessions led by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery. He'll present new perennials and talk on planting in drifts. You'll also hear Kerry Ann Mendez, owner of Perennially Yours nursery, describe her time-saving gardening ideas and talk about cool foliage plants for the shade garden, and landscape designer, Nan Sinton, speak on discovering hidden gardens in your own backyard.

Between sessions you can wander amongst garden vendors, sap some knowledge from Connecticut Master Gardeners, peruse gardening books, or sip on a beverage and visit with other winter-weary gardeners.

As a relatively new member of The Connecticut Horticultural Society (join here) I've been impressed by the quality of the educational offerings at their monthly meetings, so I suspect this symposium will be well worthwhile.
