A CT NOFA surprise
Not all surprises are good - think of kale leaves chomped by cabbage worms or the hole a vole left in the garden where a homegrown-from-seed tomato once stood.
But some surprises are lovely and very welcome, as was learning that on December 8, 2010, the CT NOFA blog highlighted my blog.
Aw, shucks … such kind words … indeed, a lovely surprise.
CT NOFA is the Connecticut Chapter of Northeast Organic Farming Association NOFA). NOFA has chapters in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont, as well as Connecticut that promote organic gardening and farming. CT NOFA, as you would expect, fosters ecologically sound farming and gardening and works to increase the availability of local agricultural products for Nutmeg Staters.
NOFA sponsors, runs, and supports regional educational opportunities for gardeners, homeowners, land care professionals, and farmers. CT NOFA does the same locally. Check out the CT NOFA events page for current and future offerings – and visit it regularly so you don't miss newly posted opportunities.
Cold weather months offer ample opportunity to further investigate the resources for gardeners, resources for farmers, a downloadable listing of Connecticut's organic farms and related businesses, and valuable links to other related sites accessible at or via the CT NOFA website. Once there, sign up for their emailed newsletter which gives handy links to updated information, interesting articles, and the CT NOFA blog.
Interested in organic lawn care, learning more about Organic Land Care, or planning a vegetable garden? There's info on all these topics and more through CT NOFA.
It's a great resource for seasoned and new gardeners, and everyone in between.
I'm honored to be associated with such a forward thinking and down-to-earth group. Here's a big THANK YOU to CT NOFA for the shout out.

Joene, As Laurrie said, what an honor. CTNOFA is indeed a great resource for gardeners, not just those who live in CT.

Thanks, Debbie. NOFA is a great resource for gardeners and farmers in the northeast U.S. and CT gardeners/farmers are fortunate to have such an active and valuable local chapter in CT NOFA.
