Spring promises – GB Bloom Day
A few bulbs are showing off in my Connecticut gardens. A small bunch of iris reticulata are my current show stoppers.
A single white crocus stands nearby.
But these narcissi, along with so many others, hold the promise of spring.
It's always interesting to look back at what was blooming in my gardens for previous Garden Bloggers' Bloom Days … iris reticulata and crocus were also in bloom in my yard for 2009's March GBBD. And it's even more fun to visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens for a glimpse of other gardens in bloom and showing off for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.

Thats just the perfect word for those little iris ! and they sure are showstoppers - isn't their colouring so vivid. I made a collage of them for this months GBBD too. Our gardens seem to be at a similar bloom time and isn't it wonderful how a little shower of rain can make photos all the more interesting.

There would be no use in me participating in GBBD until next month. We still have a couple of feet of snow. I hope my Iris reticulatas look as good as yours do....

The rain eased up here just long enough for me to grab a few photos. Thanks for stopping by leavesnbloom.

Hi Joene,
Happy Belated Bloom Day! Your irises are so colorful even when deluged by rain. I imagine the next few days of sun and warm temps will make your garden come to life even more than.

I'm going to watch the progress of my budding plants closely over the next few days of warmth, Debbie. I expect things to really pop.

Joene, I can't fgure out why I have never planted this gorgeous species of iris in my garden, but clearly it's an oversight I need to rectify! -Jean

Jean, these iris are only about 4 inches tall and they don't last long, but they bloom when nearly nothing else does. You definitely need these in your gardens.
