I'm glad you enjoyed my take on Tallamy's book, Debbie. And, regarding your post on CT natives ... good information deserves recognition.

Joene,

Your post was very thoughtful and comprehensive. Tallamy's research is certainly a pivotal factor for many converts to the camp of native plant enthusiasts. I imagine many people who first read his book have a reaction to similiar to mine - hey I never thought about it like that. But of course it makes perfect sense and certainly makes you look at your garden differently. Thanks for including my post in your list of resources.

Alexandra, You just informed everyone who reads here of the bees issue, but I will make it a point to investigate this further. I wrote about bats last summer, but will surely write about them again since they are so critical to controlling insects.

I think you will enjoy Tallamy's book.

I will have to buy this book. Native species do much better in my garden but sometimes I cannot resist that exotic plant promoted in some catalog.

January 1 I included a promo for Nicotine Bees on my blog, a new documentary about how chemically altered seed coverings may be why bees are dying. I hope you will check it out and inform others. Thanks!

Oh, and bats are dying, too. We need the bats to eat mosquitoes. Ugh! What have we allowed Monsanto to do to our world!
